William King’s legacy was one of giving. This Irish immigrant’s generosity allowed for the construction of a school on the site that WKMA now calls home. Your membership in the William King Society is more than an investment in the museum and its role in Abingdon’s vibrant arts community. It is a continuation of the proud legacy begun by William King centuries ago.
William King Society: Our Standard Bearers of Support
William King Museum of Art is about to reach its full potential as a major regional asset. Education and Exhibitions are growing and thriving, spring 2026 will see the installation of the Worrell Collection of Wildlife Art and completion of the beautiful new wing for it, and the museum’s twenty-acre campus will open as a community park celebrating the intersection of art and nature.
WKMA is truly on the verge of something wonderful. As a nationally accredited museum dedicated to free admission and school programs being free to each child, operating expenses are funded in large part by the generosity of donors like the William King Society, our
William King Society members make an annual gift of $1,200 or more.
