Soma and Psyche: Paintings by Charles T. Jones

December 6, 2020
through February 28, 2021

Painting is only one of many ways that seeks to make sense of the why’s, wherefore’s, and what-now’s of life, this situation in which we all find ourselves. We naturally ponder, probe, observe, and ask our questions hoping to find guidance. Most often, the answers we get, like those of the ancient Oracle, are not as simple as a+b=c.

Charles Jones grew up in North Carolina and attended East Carolina University where he studied sculpture and painting and received a BFA in 1968. After a stint in the army, he studied painting with Alden Mason and Michael Spafford at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he received an MFA in 1974. From that time until 2003, he lived and worked in Seattle. Since moving to East Tennessee in 2003, his paintings have been included in numerous regional exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions.

His work is on display in the Panoramic Gallery December 6-February 28, 2021.
