“Continuing the Tradition: Washington County Ceramics in the 20th Century”
Join us in the Strongwell & Price gallery as we showcase Mabel Ruskin’s Cumbow China Decorating Company and Nancy Patterson Lamb’s Iron Mountain Stoneware. Together highlighting the iconic legacies of two entrepreneurial women in the ceramic arts.
From creating employment for 100+ women artisans, to traveling the globe revitalizing lost techniques and designs, both of these ladies represent trailblazing women of 20th century ceramics in Appalachia, and their fearless ascent into what was, at the time, a predominantly male-occupied industry and maker/s space.
