Benjamin Wigfall & Printmaking in Virginia

April 25, 2024
through October 27, 2024

In light of the current power uncertainties and in an effort to prioritize the safety of the artwork, we regret to announce the immediate closure of both the Art Nouveau exhibit and the Benjamin Wigfall exhibit.

Explore the life and legacy of Virginia native Benjamin Wigfall (1930–2017), an artist, professor, and community organizer who pushed the boundaries of traditional printmaking techniques. Learn about his early years in Richmond, where he grew up, before he attended Hampton Institute (now University) where he returned to teach until the early 1960s. Through nearly 20 prints by Wigfall and related archival material, visitors will experience an intimate portrait of his artwork, impact, and legacy.

Members’ Reception: Wednesday, April 24th, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

This exhibition was organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is part of WKMA’s McGlothlin Exhibition Series.
