About Amanda Sprinkle:

Amanda Sprinkle, originally from Bluff City, Tennessee, is now based in Abingdon, Virginia.  Her journey with basketry began in 1999, when her future mother-in-law invited her to a class, and she was immediately drawn to the blend of artistry and functionality in the craft. Amanda weaves using reed from the rattan plant, along with hardwood bases and handles made in the U.S. While Amanda honors traditional techniques rooted in Appalachian and Indigenous cultures, she also experiments with contemporary designs to create baskets that are both functional and visually appealing.
