Beginning September 28th, The William King Museum of Art will present the Korshak Collection: Illustrations of Imaginative Literature.
The exhibition will include selections from a unique collection of illustration artwork originally designed to adorn books, covers and posters. Assembled by Stephen D. Korshak, the collection features a variety of artworks from some of the artists who laid the foundations for our collective visual imagination: Brian Froud, Arthur Rackham, Gustave Dore and Aubrey Beardsley among many others. Viewers will be able to see vivid scenes from classics like Alice in Wonderland, dramatic moments painted for pulp fiction covers and well-known characters like Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter of Mars, and J.R.R. Tolkien’s Gandalf. Among them will be fairies, witches, living skeletons, and plenty of aliens!
WKMA invites all of its guests to bring their sense of wonder and join us as we celebrate over a century of visual imagination!
The Korshak Collection: Illustrations of Imaginative Literature will run from September 28th, 2026 to January 24th, 2027.
