A Land of Glitter and Slime Part 1: The Creations of Lee Alexander Martin

Lee Alexander Martin makes multimedia art for the curious, queer, and questioning. Martin gets sucked into narratives involving unmitigated joy, getting comfortable with death, working that grey matter, and dopamine seeking behaviors. They use their theatrical design background for good (usually), works with found objects, fine art inks, marker, pen, important adhesives, and items from the dollar store to find a perspective on these narratives. With one toe in psychedelia, another in folk and fan art, and yet another still in a container of neon pink glitter slime, Martin hopes to flag down the proverbial mothership, and embrace their long-lost niblings.

A land of Glitter and Slime Part 1 is a fantastical collection of bizzarro toy photography and strange artifacts birthed by the artist throughout the endless nameless pandemic. It includes sometimes horrific but always cute toys of numerous varieties. Whether plucked out of an antique store, shopped impulsively online, or created by the artist themself in a fit of ecstatic bliss, they are granted light, posed in an expanded and contracted space, and then filled with vibrant color juice to explore themes of death, celebrate the joy in accepting it as an ineffable fact, and then wallering around in it like a pig in technicolor filth. Order gives way to chaos, sanity to fervid splendor, glitter mixes with slime, and the gibleybits are born in a puff of electricity.
