On Friday May 1st, William King Museum of Art participated in the Town of Abingdon’s First Friday event. These monthly events happen from 5-8pm on the first Friday of the month and invite the community to engage with the arts and galleries, as well as local dining and retail spots.
For these events the Art Lab at WKMA offers crafts, snacks, and artist open studios for the community to explore. The May 1st event included a create your own “stained glass” piece in honor of our new exhibit “Sanctuaries In Stained Glass.” Visitors also had the option to create a collage. Overall, the event was a big hit amongst the community. There were visitors during the entire three hour window, with many of them participating in the crafts and visiting the open studios.
