Jocelyn Mathewes’ exhibit “Para(site)dise” opened to the public on August 20th. The night before we hosted our members only early viewing where WKMA members had the opportunity to get an in-depth look at Jocelyn’s fascinating work, which ranges from photography to paper sculpture, with commentary from Russell Facemire, Curator of Fine Art & Worrell Collection of Wildlife Art, and Jocelyn Mathewes. This event was catered by A-Z Catering.
On opening day, we had a storytelling event in partnership with the International Storytelling Center. Award-winning storyteller Hannah Harvey wove folktales, biblical stories, and personal narratives in an engaging performance inspired by Jocelyn’s work.
We followed the opening and storytelling event with a public tour on August 21st led by Russell.
On August 26th, WKMA hosted another members only event, Members’ Morning. Russell gave a special presentation on Jocelyn Mathewes’ work and approach to art, while guests sampled coffee and pastries from The Girl and the Raven.
