Patrick King draws inspiration from a wide range of visual artists — from Bob Dylan’s visual art, to artists associated with Black Mountain College, such as Josef and Anni Albers and Robert Rauschenberg, as well as influential artists Jasper Johns and Modern Painter, Ronnie Landfield. The bold experimentation and interdisciplinary approach of these artists influence his work, guiding his ongoing exploration of narratives, scales, and mediums as a Resident Artist at Art Lab through William King Museum of Art.
Artist Statement
My interest in art grew quite a lot while living in the Berkshires, Western Massachusetts. I met the artistic and spiritual communities that continue to shape my mind as I work today. As a current resident of the Art Lab Resident Artist program through the William King Museum of Art, I am eager to collaborate with the communities in and around Abingdon, Virginia, while my mind and my work are being shaped with new influences.
